How do I block or unblock a contact?

Blocked contacts cannot reach you in WhatsApp or see your profile information. For more information on what blocking does, see this article.

To block a contact that is saved in your phone

1. Open WhatsApp.
2. Go to Options > Settings > Account > Privacy > Blocked Contacts > Add Contact.
3. Choose the contact you wish to block.

To block a number that is not saved in your phone

1. Open the chat window with the unknown contact.
2. Go to Options > Block.

To unblock contacts

If you have a touch screen phone:

1. On WhatsApp's main screen go to Options > Settings > Account > Privacy >Blocked Contacts.
2. Tap on the contact that you wish to unblock.
3. Select Yes from the pop-up menu.

If you have a physical keyboard phone:

1. On WhatsApp's main screen go to Options > Settings > Account > Privacy >Blocked Contacts.
2. Highlight the contact that you wish to unblock.
3. Press Unblock > Yes.

Alternatively, you can simply send a message to the contact you blocked and you will be prompted with a message to unblock that contact.
