VIDEO - Samsung Gear VR / Oculus Revealed

The Samsung Gear VR and Oculus collaboration has energized the
Film, 3D/VFX, and Video Game industries.

If you missed the Samsung's live streaming event "Unpacked"
.. here is the best part featuring the new Samsung Gear VR and CTO at Oculus John Carmack.

On Sept 3, Samsung held their “UNPACKED” live event in Berlin, where they officially announced their entrance into the mobile Virtual Reality (VR) market. Samsung has teamed up with Oculus to create an HMD system called Gear VR that uses a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 as it’s main screen.

John Carmack, CTO at Oculus joined the presenters on stage and revealed that Samsung gave the Oculus developers low level access to the hardware to help ensure consistent clock speeds and performance optimizing for the Note 4.

Will this mean that mobile VR will have less lag than on an Apple iPhone 5s or 6?

Samsung has not only teamed up with Oculus to create the hardware but they have teamed up with some of the industry’s top VR content creators.

Polygon (Gaming New Site) released two articles. One speaking about the new “Oculus Cinema” where you can purchase and view 360 Movies, Games, and other media. And the other announcing the Harmonix ( Game Developer of Rock Band and Dance Central) is creating game content for the new Samsung mobile VR platform.

The Samsung Gear VR and Oculus collaboration has energized the Film, 3D/VFX, and Video Game industries. I’m personally interested in VR cinematography and using VR for previs.
You will need to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung Gear VR to be part of the first generation of this tech.
